Proceedings of the Articles of the Association General Assembly of May 20, 2007Today, May 20, Sunday in Athens, the General Assembly of the Paparousi Association was held, for the translation, amendment and codification of the current articles. The President of the Board, Panagiotis Vlassopoulos, suggested that Dimitrios Kalyvas preside at the Assembly, who accepted the position, with Ms. Angeliki Vlassopoulou as the Secretary for the keeping of the proceedings.The President of the Board of Directors, Mr. Panagiotis Vlassopoulos, took the stand and spoke about the Association's activities in the past year, the attainments, as well as the difficulties he encountered due to the members' lack of interest. He described in detail the reasons for which the translation and the amendment of the current articles were decided, so it corresponds with today's needs. As main points for the changes, he suggested that discussions be made for the translation of the articles to the conversational lguage, the increase of the duration of service of the Board of Directors from one to two years; the change in the voting procedures, as well as for quick and effective means of communication between the members, the President and the Board of Directors, so the goal of the Association be ascertained. Said goal is to preserve the bonds and the interest of the people of Paparousi for their birthplace. For this reason, he distributed to all the members copies of the old and the suggested articles. Of the forty-six members who have fulfilled their financial obligations, twenty-six were present. They were the following:
Dimitrios Kalyvas took the stand next and after establishing the required quorum, (majority of the 2/3 of the members who have fulfilled their financial obligations) and a discussion followed for the amendment of the articles: PAN. VLASSOPOULOS: A. The service of the Board of Directors should be a 2-year service, so there is ample time for programming and materializing its goals; B. The change of the text to the conversational lguage is necessary so that the provisions are well understood by all; C. The change in the voting process, i.e. the casting of a vote for the Board of Directors from people residing outside of Attica and actually from abroad. It is also necessary to boost the interest of all the Paparousians, to learn about their fellow villagers and their association's activities; D. Opening of an account in banks other than the NATIONAL BANK. IOAN. ANTONOPOULOS: Our association is small and we need everybody's vote and especially of the ones residing outside of Attica and abroad. GEORG. HARARI: Whoever pays subscription also has demands. DIM. KALYVAS: The association is for the Athenians, the rest can vote at the associations where they reside (U.S. Australia, etc.,). PAN. VLASSOPOULOS: Everyone who's a member of the association no mater where they live, have to vote. They must have an opinion and the right to judge the people who manage the association. That way the concept of the association be boosted to all the Paparousians and we'll all be creative and close to each other. With the electronic means that exist today, people can vote through fax or the Internet. The Board of Directors and an internal ruling will determine the relevant procedure for the members who live outside of Athens. The discussion ended and after the President of the Assembly, Dim.
